The JCIRA Multicultural Center gives us the opportunity to do more together for our community. Immigrants and asylum seekers can get help finding resources, and everyone can benefit from the variety of programs available.

At the center, you can:

JCIRA offers classes in English as a second (or additional) language, as well as beginning and intermediate Spanish classes. See how to sign up below.

FREE English as Second Language Class

Learn English with Sue Lemay at no charge.

Sue Lemay is the instructor for our English as a Second (or additional) Language Class. Sue has many years of experience teaching ESL, basic skills, college prep, and high school equivalency and credit programs.

The class is open to all levels of English learners. Volunteers help students in small groups or indivdually, depending on the needs of the class. Students can join throughout the school year. We meet in Multicultural Center on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (No class on September 24.)

Beginning Spanish Language Conversation Classes

Francisca Ramirez is our teacher for beginning Spanish.

Francisca Ramirez teaches our Spanish class for beginners. We are lucky to have Francisca, a native Spanish speaker, to lead this class. A $5 donation is requested for each class for the instructor. 

Mondays from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. No registration required.

Become more fluent with our intermediate Spanish Class.

Katie Franco instructs our intermediate Spanish class.

Our intermediate Spanish class is taught by teacher Katie Franco. Katie, a JCIRA founder, is a fluent Spanish speaker and lifelong admirer of Mexican culture. A $10 donation is suggested for each class for JCIRA, now held on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m, except the last Wednesday of each month.
