First Award of the Larry Jensen Memorial Scholarship

On June 17, the JCIRA Youth Team announced that Idaly Medina Sanchez is the first recipient of the Larry Jensen Memorial Scholarship. Idaly, who recently graduated from Port Townsend High School, plans to continue her education at Tacoma Community College this fall. Everyone at JCIRA wishes Idaly all the best as she pursues her dreams.

JCIRA established the Larry Jensen Memorial Scholarship in honor of our previous board chair, who passed away earlier this year. For those who knew Larry, who was dedicated to assisting immigrants and supporting opportunities for all, this award has special significance in helping his achievements live on.

Congratulations to Idaly and to her parents, Raúl Medina Contreras and Anastacia Sánchez Barragán. It’s time to celebrate!
