Thank you to everyone who came out to the vigil at the Northwest Detention Center today to stand with the many, many immigrants incarcerated in Tacoma.
Saturday, Nov 10 – Everyone welcome to join the vigil at the NW Detention Center, 1623 East J Street, Tacoma. The vigil will last about three hours, 12:30 to 3:30, which overlaps visiting hours for detainees.
During that time, protesters will talk with visitors as they come and go from the center, and provide conversation, sandwiches, water and snacks for those traveling sometimes long distances to visit with their loved ones held in detention.
For meeting information and time, contact Cheryl Bentley, firstname.lastname@example.org

Demonstrating outside the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) on Labor Day, JCIRA members and supporters met and talked to many people who had come to visit a family member or friend jailed inside. Their stories were powerful. One woman’s story stands out because she is a fighter – a fighter to save her detainee husband’s life and to improve medical treatment for all detainees - and because she is eager to share details of her struggle.
ShaCorrie Tunkara hopes that everyone will find some way to help.
